McTominay renewal stalls, Napoli open to a January sale
The Scotland midfielder, sidelined by a heart arrhythmia, wants close to €6.5m net a year to extend his contract, and no talks with his agents are yet on the calendar.
Scott McTominay is out with the arrhythmia that led to ablation surgery in England, but at Castel Volturno (the training ground) the bigger talking point is his contract. Napoli have not ruled out letting him go in January, when the winter window reopens.
The sticking point is money. McTominay wants a substantial rise to extend, close to €6.5m net a season, and there are currently no meetings scheduled between his agents and the club. Napoli have no intention of letting his deal run down to its final year, so incoming offers could be considered as soon as the winter window.

It is striking that the demand comes from a player picked up two summers ago from a Manchester United who saw him as surplus to their Premier League plans. Napoli revived his career, and it is that very form driving his asking price up. Selling him in January, with midfield still short of a like-for-like replacement, would leave Allegri with a tricky call to manage.
