Italian press zeroes in on Allegri's puzzle before Inter

One topic runs through Saturday's sports pages: the line-up Massimiliano Allegri will send out at San Siro against Inter.

Sky Sport, across several pieces on the probable line-ups, tells the same story from another angle: a midfield battle to replace the injured Scott McTominay resolved in favour of Antonio Vergara, a "clarification" on how he will be used, and a change on the left, with Leonardo Spinazzola and Alisson Santos returning to the starting eleven in place of Mathías Olivera and Noa Lang. One Sky headline also promises "a surprise" from Allegri, without saying what it is.

The two accounts, despite coming from different sources, do not contradict each other. Gazzetta and Sky are describing the same tactical shift — De Bruyne further forward, Vergara completing midfield, new faces on the left — seen from complementary angles.

Speaking to DAZN, Allegri addressed the balance question himself.

Keeping the balance at Napoli is very difficult.

He added that Rasmus Højlund "must improve in this aspect", and said he had "told De Bruyne something", without revealing what.

Sky Sport also carried a comment from pundit Zancan, raising the stakes for the match: "Napoli has more to lose than any of the other top sides in the next round," he wrote, framing Saturday's game as a heavier test for Napoli than for the other title contenders.

Our take

Saturday's pages focus almost entirely on Allegri's tactical puzzle, and for once the sources tell the same story without contradicting each other. But all the noise around the probable line-up risks missing the real point: after three points from two matchdays and a home defeat to Como, Napoli do not need surprises or on-the-fly balance at San Siro — they need a result. Allegri's words on Højlund sound honest, but it is the whole team, not one department, that has to show it can withstand the league's pace-setters.
