Allegri changes Napoli's left flank for Inter trip

Napoli travel to San Siro tomorrow at 18:00 CET (17:00 UK, 12:00 ET) looking to respond after their Serie A defeat to Como. Inter are one of the sides Napoli measure their season against, the kind of match where a slip counts for more than most.

In defence, Sam Beukema is ready for a starting shirt, but Amir Rrahmani and Rafa Marín should keep their places at centre-back. Alex Meret starts in goal, with captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo completing the back line.

Vergara wins out in midfield

The tightest call is who replaces Scott McTominay, ruled out by the benign arrhythmia that led to an ablation procedure in recent days. Antonio Vergara has won the battle with Kevin De Bruyne, and would line up alongside Stanislav Lobotka and André-Frank Anguissa. Further forward, Alisson Santos, Rasmus Hojlund and vice-captain Matteo Politano form the front three.

Alessandro Buongiorno and Luca Marianucci remain out injured, and they're joined by Giovane, who had surgery on a groin hernia yesterday, and Benoît Badiashile, still short of full fitness. That's a long absentee list for a trip to San Siro that already comes with a change of personnel on the flank.

Two versions of the same team that lost to Como are on show here. The changes to Spinazzola and Alisson Santos read as a correction after a flat display; keeping Rrahmani and Rafa Marín together says Allegri isn't ready to change everything at once. Tomorrow at 18:00 will show whether it's enough.
